When your Opera browser still open, press these keys combination: [Ctrl] + [H]
Your Opera browser will be minimized into Systray (and not in taskbar area)
Note for Opera 9.5 and later: This shortcut combination will not work on Opera 9.5. They have change it to [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Shift] + [H].
[Ctrl] + [H] no longer hides it in the system tray but brings up history.

Reprogram this
How in the worldl are you supposed to hold CTRL ALT SHIFT and H at the same time?!?!
That's ridiculous.
I reprogrammed mine to ALT `
You simply go to TOOLS/PREFERENCES/SHORTCUTS, modify the Opera Standard by highlighting it and clicking edit.
You then type "Hide Opera" in the search and it will show you the programmed shortcut.
Edit this, on the end you will see the "h ctrl shift alt".
Simply overwrite it with ` alt, or whatever keys to which you want to map this.
Make sure you don't duplicate an already existing shortcut.
